about jodie and her approach to therapy…

Jodie is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and has been practicing in the private practice setting for several years. She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Towson University and her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. Jodie graduated at the top of her class with Latin Honors from both universities. She also served in the United States Navy for six years which included a year-long deployment overseas.

In counseling, Jodie combines various techniques from several different theoretical approaches to therapy which include psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, client-centered therapy, Gestalt therapy, and positive psychology. Jodie believes that congruency of the mind, body, and soul is the key to contentment. Therefore, she helps facilitate growth and healing for her clients, not only mentally and emotionally, but also physically, socially, and spiritually as well. Jodie aids her clients in identifying their areas for improvement, but also focuses on assisting them in recognizing and acknowledging their strong suits. She will tactfully nudge her clients outside of their comfort zones to encourage growth and discovery, but will always meet her clients where they currently are in the therapeutic process.

Jodie sees adult clients for individual counseling and couples counseling. Her areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, OCD, adjustment disorders, addiction, sexual issues, spiritual concerns, personal growth and discovery, grief/loss, major life changes, and relationship issues.
